Colorado shocks Oklahoma on last second field goal

NCAA Football Betting Lines

09/29/2007 - Boulder, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Kevin Eberhart's 45-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Colorado Buffaloes to a huge 27-24 win over third-ranked Oklahoma at Folsom Field.

After erasing a 17-point deficit, Colorado stopped Oklahoma and a 31-yard punt return from Chase McBride gave the Buffaloes the ball at midfield with 2:41 to play.

After a one-yard loss, Cody Hawkins hit Kendrick Celestine for a 16-yard play and a one-yard run from Hugh Charles and a six-yard run for Demetrius Sumler set up Eberhart's field goal attempt.

As the time was running out, Eberhart booted the ball just inside the left upright and the Colorado fans came rushing onto the field.

Hawkins went 22-for-36 for 220 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Buffaloes (3-2, 1-0 Big 12), who snapped a five-game losing streak to Oklahoma.

Charles finished the game with 23 carries for 110 yards and a score and added five receptions for 48 yards while Tyson DeVree and Dusty Sprague each had touchdown receptions for Colorado, who have won their last two games.

Sam Bradford went just 8-for-19 for 112 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions while Allen Patrick had 18 carries for 96 yards and two scores for the Sooners (4-1, 0-1), who travel to Texas next Saturday.

Trailing, 24-7, the Buffaloes made it a 24-10 game with 4:10 left in the third quarter on a 41-yard field goal from Eberhart.

Ryan Walters picked off Bradford on Oklahoma's ensuing possession and Colorado took advantage of the turnover. A nine-play, 60-yard drive that spanned the third and fourth quarters was capped off when Hawkins found DeVree in the end zone from four yards out to cut the deficit to 24-17 just 10 seconds into the fourth.

Colorado had a chance to cut into its deficit when the team lined up for a 36- yard field goal, but Eberhart pushed it right.

However, Daniel Dykes picked off Bradford on the first play of Oklahoma's next possession, but Colorado was held and forced to punt.

Again turnovers plagued the Sooners as Reggie Smith fumbled the punt after fielding it and Justin Drescher fell on the ball to give the Buffaloes the ball at the Oklahoma 16. Three plays later Hawkins and Sprague hooked up on a 15-yard touchdown to tie the game with 4:05 to play.

The Sooners grabbed a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. D.J. Wolfe picked off a Hawkins pass and returned it to the Colorado 11 and three plays later Bradford found Juaquin Iglesias in the end zone with 1:40 left in the quarter.

The Buffaloes tied the game in the second as Charles took a handoff 25-yards into the end zone to cap an eight-play, 70-yard drive with 8:26 remaining until halftime.

However, Oklahoma took the lead into the locker room with a pair of scores.

On the ensuing possession, Bradford hooked up with Joe Jon Finley on a 43-yard catch and on the next play Patrick took the ball into the end zone from 34 yards out for a 14-7 lead.

After stopping Colorado on its next possession, Oklahoma drove the ball down the field and a 28-yard field goal from Garrett Hartley made it a 17-7 game.

In the third quarter, Wolfe again picked off Hawkins deep in Colorado territory and on the next play Patrick took the ball into the end zone for a 24-7 lead less than three minutes in.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect

LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.

Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.

Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
